Founded by Jack Cooper in 1928, we started as a carrier for General Motors from the Leeds Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1984 we tripled in size thanks to the purchase of United Transports, Inc, a carrier based out of Oklahoma City. Soon after, in 1988 we expanded again with the purchase of Pacific Motor Trucking Company, adding terminal capacity on the east coast. By 2009 we merged with Active Transportation, Inc of Joplin, Missouri, making us the second largest auto and truck transport carrier in the nation, and one of the few remaining transport companies with professional Teamster union drivers.
Today, Jack Cooper Transport services all of the major domestic and foreign automotive manufacturers and commercial shippers of pre-owned vehicles, providing a full range of transport distribution services, including truck-away, yard management, rail loading, auto lease and auctions. We operate 26 terminals throughout the US and Canada and over 1,500 of the newest and best maintained trucks in the industry, with state-of-the-art strap technology.
