Chinese manufacturers of automotive parts and vehicles need to improve the quality of their
products, as well as their supply chains, to improve competitiveness. That was the clear message to emerge from key speakers from carmakers and government organisations at the Automotive Logistics China Conference in Beijing this past spring.
 
To maintain and increase local and global market share, Chinese suppliers need to improve both the quality of their products and the packaging and transport methods used to deliver the products, said senior delegates from government think tanks.
 
 
 
 
“We want to witness the improvement of competiveness of the Chinese export system,” said Ma Zengrong, vice secretary general of the China Federation of Logistics Providers (CFLP). “The automotive industry is the hallmark of a country’s mechanical and technical capabilities,” said Zhi Luxun, director of the department of mechanic, electronic and hi-tech industry at China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM).
 
He stressed the importance of standardising the quality of Chinese auto products, as they reflect on the country’s wider industrial credentials.
